This course is designed to give you an introduction to the craft of audio performance, and will be led by an audio industry professional.  

Each day you will partake in various skills classes, which may include: 

  • Mic Technique  
  • Character Voices 
  • Audiobook Preparation 
  • Audio Drama Preparation 

The work covered in these skills classes will feed into multiple opportunities to record using LAMDA's industry standard recording equipment, allowing you to hone your craft by doing. As well as this, you will have the chance to review and reflect on your work.

What will I learn?

  • How to work ‘on mic’, including microphone technique and etiquette.  
  • How to utilise character voice in the recording of audiobooks. 
  • How to connect with audio drama texts.  
  • How to use and take care of your voice for audio work.
  • Get involved in a Q+A session with the industry professional leading the course, with the opportunity to ask any questions about audio work, such as voice reels.

Is this course for me?

This course is ideal for anyone considering training to be an actor, who would like to know more about what audio performance training is like at a drama school.  

There are many routes into the industry, and many actor training courses out there. Participating in this course is a way of finding out more about yourself and what your next steps are.  

This course is also perfect for professional actors, who did not receive audio performance training in previous places of study.  

We encourage applications from prospective students of all ages to this course, and we will endeavour to place students in pairs and groups where they're working with others of a similar age. No previous acting experience is required to partake in this course.

Key Information

This course is for those aged 18 and above. 

Specific acting experience is not required for the application. 

In order to train on this course, you should have a level of English that is approximately IELTS 6.0 or equivalent English Language experience.

If you are offered a place on this course you will need to pay a deposit of 10% within five days of the date of your offer email to secure your place. 

You will then need to pay the remainder of the course fee within 21 days at the latest.
