About the show
Prospero, the Duke Of Milan is double crossed by his brother and exiled with his daughter Miranda to a remote island whose only inhabitant is another exiled creature called Caliban. Prospero, with the help of the magical spirits on the island, becomes a powerful magician.
By chance, a yacht carrying his brother and the King of Naples and other rich lords is passing the island. Prospero takes his chance to take his revenge and find a way home for himself and his daughter. He creates a huge sea storm and causes the men to be shipwrecked on the island...
About Shakespeare in Schools
The Tempest is showing in LAMDA's Sainsbury Theatre as part of our 2024 Shakespeare in Schools tour, and is performed by our graduating MFA Professional Acting students.
Sophie has worked extensively as an actor and education practitioner for 25 years. She is an associate for Told By An Idiot Theatre Company and Spymonkey. For LAMDA she has previously directed Twelfth Night for the MFA course 2022. As part of the Higher Education Department for The Globe Theatre she has directed Henry VI Part 3, The Taming Of The Shrew and Antony and Cleopatra. For the NT she was director of Physical Comedy for a production of The Comedy Of Errors in 2015. While with the RSC she gained a Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching Shakespeare.
