Introducing the new LAMDA Exams anthologies
This month, LAMDA Exams are thrilled to introduce two new sister anthologies, featuring a selection of optional pieces that can be used by Learners during their LAMDA Graded Examinations in Acting.
The new publications contain solo and duologue scenes, carefully curated to offer a broad range of material from a variety of writers. These new publications can act as a starting point to discovering new writers, but they are not compulsory to use during LAMDA Exams.
Publishing in February 2023, you can now shop the new anthologies on the LAMDA online store at the links below:
Split into themes, the new anthologies are designed to suit a range of ages, from young Learners who are just entering the world of performance, to material for slightly older, more experienced storytellers.
For the general reader, the anthologies can act as a starting point to discovering new writers working in today’s theatrical and literary world, as well as reconnecting with celebrated writers from the past.
Why publish new anthologies?
Monologues and Duologues for Young Actors and Monologues and Duologues for Teenage Actors are the first own choice anthologies released by LAMDA Exams since 2016, when Monologues for Young Actors was published. The aim in publishing the new anthologies is to include a fresh selection of pieces with a more contemporary feel, whilst also broadening the choice of material in terms of theme, voice and content.
Unlike the 2016 publication, the two new anthologies are split into pieces for under 12s (in Monologues and Duologues for Young Actors) and over 12s (in Monologues and Duologues for Teenage Actors). The material in each reflects characters, content and themes appropriate for Learners of these ages to perform, with both monologues and duologues included to offer teachers a more adaptable selection.
