Alumni News: October Edition

Here are just a few highlights of where you can catch our alumni this month.

Latest releases  

  • And Mrs, starring Aisling Bea, Samuel Barnett and Dame Harriet Walter was released on 19 August and is available on AppleTV. 
  • Season four of Slow Horses, which premiered in September, features Rosalind Eleazar and Tom Brooke. 
  • Sally Cookson directs the UK Tour of Wonder Boy, playing from 6 September – 23 November. The show also stars Hilson Agbangbe, Naia Elliott-Spence and Eva Scott. 
  • The video game Warhammer Space Marine 2, released on 9 September, features the voice of Clive Standen. 
  • Jamie Bamber stars in the six-part Channel 5 series The Wives, which premiered on 16 September and is available to stream. 
  • Anthony Nyro is Assistant Producer for The Catalogue of Sexual Anxieties, a touring show played at The White Bear Theatre, from 17 - 28 September. 
  • Twilight of the Gods, a new Netflix animated series featuring Paterson Joseph was released on 19 September. 
  • The Be Scene: Director's Cut podcast is hosted by LAMDA graduate Marion Githegi. Episode 5 (Part 1), released on 20 September, was recorded at LAMDA, and features Mahaila Palmer. 
  • Debbie Chazen stars in the UK tour of Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express, playing now until 3 May 2025. 
  • Bonnie Langthorn, Adelaide Leonard, Anniina Piiparinen, and Lubka Strhakova featured in the staged reading of Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Today at The Distillers in Hammersmith on 30 September. 
  • Julie Hesmondhalgh, Rory Kinnear, Dame Harriet Walter and Katherine Parkinson join the lineup of performances in White Rabbit Red Rabbit, which runs from 1 October - 9 November at @sohoplace. 
  • Charlotte Owadally is Assistant Stage Manager (Technical Swing) for the production of George Orwell’s 1984 at Hackney Town Hall which runs from 1 October - 22 December. 
  • Ziggy Heath stars in The New Real, playing at The Other Place Stratford-Upon-Avon from 3 October – 2 November. 
  • KillHer, starring Nicole Lovince, plays as part of the Grimmfest Film Festival, which takes place from 3-6 October. 
  • Alexandra Faye Braithwaite is Sound Designer for Abigail’s Party, which plays at Stratford East until 5 October.     
  • David Sturzaker stars in 23.5 Hours at Park Theatre until 5 October. 
  • The Manchester Literature Festival will feature Julie Hesmondhalgh hosting Jackie Kay: A Life in Poetry and Protest on 5 October, followed by Dame Harriet Walter discussing her book She Speaks! on 19 October. 
  • Julius Caesar, playing at Southwark Playhouse until 5 October, stars Eleanor Crosswell. 
  • On 6 October, The Liverpool Literary Festival will host a discussion about the acclaimed BBC Drama, Mother’s Day, with Anna Maxwell Martin. 
  • Gilbert Kyem Jr, Dominique Hamilton and Solomon Israel star in A Raisin in the Sun at The Lyric Hammersmith Theatre from 8 October - 2 November. The show is directed by Tinuke Craig.  
  • All That Glitters, which will be performed at Shakespeare North Playhouse on 9 – 10 October, is written and produced by Alex Critoph and directed by Jess Millward. 
  • Justin Mayer’s clown show, Laugh Lab, has been accepted into the Theatre Crude Fringe Festival in Oklahoma City, to be performed from 10 – 19 October.    
  • Claire Redcliffe stars in Othello, playing at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre Stratford-Upon-Avon from 11 October – 23 November. 
  • Jamie Wilkes and Nigel Hastings star in The Forsyte Saga Parts 1 & 2 at Park Theatre from 11 October – 7 December. 
  • Matilda Bailes and Angus Imrie star in Never Let Me Go at Rose Theatre until 12 October. 
  • Tingying Dong is the Sound Designer for A Doll’s House, playing at Sheffield Theatre until 12 October. 
  • The Score, starring Brian Cox, will play at Theatre Royal Bath from 12 - 28 October. The production will then transfer to Theatre Royal Haymarket next spring, with performances from 20 February - 26 April 2025. 
  • Samuel Barnett features in an audio drama adaptation of Charles Dickens' Little Dorrit, released on 13 October as part of BBC Radio 4's Dickensian season of audio dramas. 
  • Leah Harvey stars in Girl in the Machine at the Young Vic from 16 – 26 October.  
  • Kelly Strandemo returns with an encore week of What The Constitution Means To Me at the Weathervane Theatre, New Hampshire from 17 – 19 October.     
  • The Brief Life and Mysterious Death of Boris III, King of Bulgaria, created by and starring Sasha Wilson and David Leopold, will tour across England from 17 October - 9 November. 
  • Anthony Calf stars in Redlands at the Chichester Festival Theatre until 18 October. 
  • Emma Shipp and Gilbert Kyem Jnr will appear in Rivals, premiering on Disney+ from 18 October.  
  • Denis Lambert joins the cast of Tammy Faye: A New Broadway Musical at the Palace Theatre, New York from 19 October. 
  • Magpie, written by Tom Bateman and starring Alistair Petrie, will be released in cinemas on 25 October. 
  • The Real Thing at The Old Vic runs until 26 October and features Sound Design by Alexandra Faye Braithwaite.   
  • Kit Fowler is the Deputy Stage Manager for The Taming of the Shrew which runs at Shakespeare’s Globe until 26 October.     
  • Dame Harriet Walter attends a talk about her new book, She Speaks! What Shakespeare's Women Might Say, at the Stratford Literary Festival on 26 October.  
  • On 27 October, Dame Harriet Walter will perform excerpts from her new book, She Speaks! at the event Harriet Walter & Friends: Shakespeare Women Speak! at Richmond Theatre.   
  • Lizzie Schenk, Danielle Phillips and Sam Swann star in The Comedy of Errors at Shakespeare's Globe until 27 October 
  • Matt Doyle will star in the world premiere musical My Best Friend’s Wedding at Ogunquit Playhouse, Maine until 27 October.  
  • Rosa Hesmondhalgh and Christopher Naylor star in The King’s Speech at The Watermill Theatre in Newbury until 2 November. 
  • Lee Braithwaite stars in The Other Place at the National’s Lyttelton theatre until 9 November.    
  • Nancy Carroll will adapt and star in the Menier Chocolate Factory’s production of The Cabinet Minister, running until16 November.   
  • John Lithgow stars in Giant at The Royal Court Theatre until 16 November, featuring Sound Designer Alexandra Faye Braithwaite and Stage Manager Laura Hammond.       
  • Bryan Moriarty, John Rice and Jacinta Whyte, star in Juno and the Paycock at the Gielgud Theatre, playing until 23 November. 
  • The production of Kiss Me, Kate, which ran at The Barbican Theatre from 2 June to 14 September and was produced by Howard Panter, has been filmed for a cinema release. 
  • Filming has begun on the film adaptation of David Haig’s stage play, Pressure. 
  • Gabby Beans stars in Romeo + Juliet on Broadway, which opened last week at the Circle in the Square Theatre. 

Things to look forward to  

  • Mike Gerbi's short film, Missing Her, has been accepted into its seventh festival, the Aesthetica Short Film Festival in York, a BAFTA-qualifying event running from 6 – 10 November.  
  • Gladiator II starring Joseph Quinn will be released on 15 November.   
  • John Lithgow stars in Conclave, due for release in cinemas on 15 November.    
  • Season two of Silo returns to Apple TV+ on 15 November, starring Dame Harriet Walter.   
  • John Lithgow stars in the animated Netflix film Spellbound, which will be released on 22 November.   
  • Small Town, Big Story, a news series created by Chris O’Dowd will be released on Sky Atlantic this autumn. 
  • The upcoming BBC Comedy Smoggie Queens features Charlotte Riley and will be released on BBC Three and iPlayer this autumn. 
  • Rebecca Frecknall will be directing Cat on a Hot Tin Roof which will run at the Almeida Theatre from December 2024 - January 2025. 
  • We Live In Time, which is scheduled for cinematic release on 1 January 2025, is produced by Benedict Cumberbatch’s production company, Sunnymarch. 
  • Tom Bateman stars in the upcoming film The Last Disturbance of Madeline Hynde. 
  • Rebecca Frecknall will be directing A Moon for the Misbegotten which will run at the Almeida from June - August 2025. The show also stars Ruth Wilson
  • Chris O’Dowd and Dame Harriet Walter are set to star in season 7 of Black Mirror which will be released in 2025. 
  • Riot Women, which will premiere on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in the UK next year, stars Claire Skinner and Amit Shah

Latest News: 

  • This September, Mischief celebrated ten years of The Play That Goes Wrong in the West End. The show was written by Henry Lewis, Henry Shields, and Jonathan Sayer.  
  • Branden Cook has been nominated for ‘Best Supporting Male Actor in a Play’ at the Black British Theatre Awards for his role in Skeleton Crew at the Donmar Warehouse. Sam Crerar has also been nominated in the ‘Best Non-Binary Performer’ category. 
  • Stratford East has appointed Lisa Spirling as new artistic director and joint CEO beginning next spring.
