Alumni News: November Edition

Here are just a few highlights of where you can catch our alumni this month.

Latest releases  

  • Julie Hesmondhalgh stars in season two of the BBC Two sitcom, Alma's Not Normal, which premiered on 7 October.  
  • Jordan Barton and Anthony Nyro appear in the Apple TV film Submerged, which was released on 10 October. 
  • Benedict Salter stars in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button musical at the Ambassadors Theatre, with Lucy Rees as Assistant Stage Manager, from 10 October.  
  • Nigel Planer joined Henry Normal for an evening of poetry at the Planer Wylam Brewery in Newcastle on 17 October. 
  • Catherine McNally stars in the film, The Apprentice, which premiered in UK on 18 October. 
  • Rivals, which was released on Disney+ on 18 October, stars Katherine Parkinson and Emma Shipp. 
  • Adam Hugill stars in REYKJAVIK at Hampstead Theatre from 18 October – 23 November. 
  • DI Ray season two began on ITV on 20 October, with Jamie Bamber returning. 
  • Venom: The Last Dance starring Chiwetel Ejiofor was released in cinemas on 25 October. 
  • Usaamah Ibraheem Hussain stars in Guards at the Taj at the Orange Tree Theatre until 16 November. 
  • Practical Magic, which played on 27 October at the Canal Cafe Theatre, featured Caitlyn Calfas, Katherine Lyle, Claire Adams, Kylie Brady, Matthew McFarland, Joss Ryder, Katie Leach, Carrie Letelier, Sarah McCurrach, Bonnie Langthorn, Madisyn Mugavero, Madeleine Bloxam, Lucy Spreckley and Emma Garcia Green. The show was Staged Managed by Anthony Nyro.
  •  Ziggy Heath stars in The New Real, playing at The Other Place Stratford-Upon-Avon until 2 November. 
  • Gilbert Kyem Jr and Solomon Israel star in A Raisin in the Sun at The Lyric Hammersmith Theatre until 2 November. The show is directed by Tinuke Craig, with Wigs Hair and Make-up Designing by Dominique Hamilton
  • Rosa Hesmondhalgh and Christopher Naylor star in The King’s Speech at The Watermill Theatre in Newbury until 2 November. 
  • Until I Kill You on ITV1 and ITVX begins on 3 November and stars Anna Maxwell Martin. 
  • A staged reading of Sorrow, 1882 by Katherine Lyle took place on 3 November at Rosemary Branch Theatre. The development of this piece has included several LAMDA alumni, including Atticus Orsborn, Nathan Ricard, Seth Hatch, Caitlyn Calfas and Claire Adams
  • Mike Gerbi's short film, Missing Her, has been accepted into its seventh festival, the Aesthetica Short Film Festival in York, a BAFTA-qualifying event running from 6 – 10 November.   
  • Benedict Cumberbatch joins music star FKA Twigs for Letters Live at KOKO on 7 November. 
  • Jim Broadbent returns for the third instalment of the Paddington Bear films, Paddington in Peru, which will be released on 8 November. 
  • Will Robinson and Adam Wadsworth both star in All’s Well That Ends Well at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse from 8 November. 
  • The Brief Life and Mysterious Death of Boris III, King of Bulgaria, created by and starring Sasha Wilson and David Leopold, will tour across England until 9 November. 
  • Lee Braithwaite stars in The Other Place at the Lyttelton Theatre, National Theatre, until 9 November.     
  • Kieran Taylor-Ford to star in in the world premiere of Wolves On Road at the Bush Theatre from 9 November. 
  • Harriet Walter, Amir El-Masry and Harry Melling are among the cast of the new series of Wolf Hall, which premieres on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on 10 November. 
  • The Wondrous Conveyance of Stella Estrella, which is co-devised and performed by Kylie Brady, plays on 12, 13 and 19 November at the Etcetera Theatre. The show is Staged Managed by Anthony Nyro.
  • As part of the Newham Libraries ‘Festival of Stories,’ Paterson Joseph will present his debut novel, The Secret Diaries of Charles Ignatius Sancho, at Old Town Hall, Stratford on 13 November, offering a glimpse into the life of a remarkable historical figure. 
  • Gladiator II starring Joseph Quinn will be released on 15 November.    
  • John Lithgow stars in Conclave, due for release in cinemas on 15 November.     
  • Silo season two returns to Apple TV on 15 November, and stars Dame Harriet Walter.   
  • Nancy Carroll will adapt and star in the Menier Chocolate Factory’s production of The Cabinet Minister, running until 16 November.    
  • John Lithgow stars in Giant at The Royal Court Theatre until 16 November, featuring Sound Designer Alexandra Faye Braithwaite.      
  • Ben Starr will host the 42nd Golden Joystick Awards on 21 November, which will also feature Abubakar Salim as a guest presenter. 
  • Hugh Skinner and Julian Bleach star in The Importance of Being Earnest at the Lyttelton Theatre, National Theatre from 21 November – 25 January 2025. 
  • John Lithgow stars in the animated Netflix film Spellbound, which will be released on 22 November.    
  • Claire Redcliffe stars in Othello, playing at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre Stratford-Upon-Avon until 23 November. 
  • Sally Cookson directs the UK Tour of Wonder Boy, which runs until 23 November and stars Hilson Agbangbe, Naia Elliott-Spence and Eva Scott.  
  • Bryan Moriarty, John Rice and Jacinta Whyte, star in Juno and the Paycock at the Gielgud Theatre, playing until 23 November. 
  • Jamie Wilkes and Nigel Hastings star in The Forsyte Saga Parts 1 & 2 at Park Theatre until 7 December. 
  • Charlotte Owadally is Assistant Stage Manager (Technical Swing) for the production of George Orwell’s 1984 at Hackney Town Hall which runs until 22 December.    
  • Gabby Beans stars in Romeo + Juliet on Broadway until 16 February at the Circle in the Square Theatre. 
     

Things to look forward to  

  • Stanley Morgan and John Light star in the Young Vic’s new revival of The Little Foxes, playing from 2 December 2024 – 8 February 2025, with Sound Design by Tingying Dong. 
  • That Christmas, an upcoming animated Netflix movie, features the voices of Brian Cox and Katherine Parkinson. It will be released on 4 December. 
  • Maureen Lipman stars in the pantomime, Beauty and The Beast, at Richmond Theatre from 7 December 2024 – 7 January 2025. 
  • Toby Stephens stars in the two-part special of The Split on BBC and BBC iPlayer later this year. 
  • The Score, starring Brian Cox, transfers to Theatre Royal Haymarket next spring, with performances from 20 February - 26 April 2025. 
  • Rebecca Frecknall will be directing Cat on a Hot Tin Roof which will run at the Almeida Theatre from December 2024 - January 2025.  
  • We Live In Time, which is scheduled for cinematic release on 1 January 2025, is produced by Benedict Cumberbatch’s production company, Sunnymarch, and stars Lee Braithwaite. 
  • Jason Flemyng stars in upcoming Apple TV+ series Prime Target, which will be released on 22 January 2025. 
  • Matt Doyle stars in the off-Broadway production of Conversations with Mother, which plays at Theater555 from 7 February – 7 May 2025. 
  • As part of the Orange Tree Theatre’s 2025 season, Anna Chancellor will star in the revival of Playhouse Creatures from 15 March – 12 April 2025. This production will later transfer to Guildford’s Yvonne Arnaud Theatre and Theatre Royal Bath. 
  • Rory Kinnear is set to star in new comedy drama, Learning To Breathe Under Water.
