Alumni News: June Edition

Latest releases  

  • Richard Armitage narrated Genius of Joy: The Story of Beethoven’s Ninth on Classic FM’s radio special on 6 May. 
  • Punch at Nottingham Playhouse, which played from 15 - 25 May, featured Sound Design by Alexandra Faye Braithwaite and starred Julie Hesmondhalgh
  • Nikki Amuka-Bird stars in new movie Rumours which had its world premiere at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival on 18 May. The film is due for release later this year. 
  • Jemma Redgrave returned to her role in the new series of Doctor Who for episode four, ‘73 Yards’, on 25 May. 
  • Sam Stafford joins the cast of The Mousetrap at St. Martin’s Theatre London from 27 May. 
  • Benedict Cumberbatch stars in Eric, streaming on Netflix from 30 May. 
  • Ezra, directed by Tony Goldwyn was released in US cinemas on 31 May. 
  • Christian Zollenkopf is currently Art Directing Michel Gondry’s new film Atlantis in Richmond, Virginia. 
  • Nadia Parkes stars in The House Party at the Chichester Festival Theatre until 1 June. 
  • Joshua Rogers, Matilda Bailes and Mackenzie Larsen will be appearing in The Big AlumNight, directed by Jacob Hutchings, at the Other Palace on 5 June. 
  • Nadia Albina stars in English at The Other Palace until 1 June, and at the Kiln Theatre from 5 - 29 June. 
  • Brian Cox stars in Long Day’s Journey Into Night, running at the Wyndham Theatre until 8 June. 
  • Soroosh Lavasani stars in The Bounds at the Live Theatre until 8 June. 
  • Nathaniel Parker and Susannah Wise will star in Alma Mater at the Almeida Theatre from 11 June - 20 July, directed by Polly Findlay. 
  • The Constituent plays at The Old Vic from 13 June - 10 August, starring Anna Maxwell Martin
  • John Selby has been cast in The Shawshank Redemption at Flat Rock Playhouse in North Carolina, playing from 14 – 30 June. 
  • Chaya Gupta, Nigel Hastings, Daniel Millar and Anna Savva star in The Government Inspector at Marylebone Theatre until 15 June. 
  • Sam Angelo stars in the UK stage tour of Maggie & Me, showing until 15 June. 
  • Jazz Jenkins and Hannah van der Westhuysen star in Fabulous Creatures at the Arcola Theatre until 15 June. 
  • Tingying Dong is providing Sound Design for The Secret Garden, playing at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre from 15 June - 20 July. 
  • Alec Newman has been cast in the video game Still Wakes the Deep, which will be released on 18 June for Xbox and PlayStation 5. 
  • Natalie Simpson to star in Visit from an Unknown Woman at Hampstead Theatre from 21 Jun – 27 July. 
  • London Tide runs at the National Theatre until 22 June, featuring Tingying Dong as Co-Sound Designer, and starring Ami Tredrea and Miya James
  • Expatriated, written and performed by Candace Leung, receives its North American premiere at The Broadwater (Second Stage) from June 22 - 25. 
  • Dominic Cooper, Anna Chancellor and Jim Broadbent star in the upcoming series My Lady Jane which will be released on Amazon Prime on 27 June. 
  • Lisa Rose’s Too Small To Tell runs at The Park Theatre on 28 and 30 June. 
  • I’m Gonna Marry You Tobey Maguire at Southwark Playhouse plays from 28 June - 10 August, featuring Holly Ellis as Lighting Designer.   
  • Kayla Meikle stars in Bluets at the Royal Court until 29 June. 
  • Tai White stars in Marin Shakespeare Company’s production of Much Ado About Nothing from 29 June at Forest Meadows Amphitheatre, California. 
  • Iwan Rheon lends his voice to BBC Radio 4's audio adaptation of Kafka’s The Trial this June. 
  • The UK tour of Player Kings stars David Shelley, with Mark Smith as Assistant Stage Manager, now playing until 27 July.  
  • Richard III at Shakespeare’s Globe stars Sam Crerar, playing until 3 August. 
  • Much Ado About Nothing, starring Ryan Donaldson, Colm Gormley, Ekow Quartey and Adam Wadsworth, is showing at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre until 24 August. 

Things to look forward to  

  • Dominic Cooper joins the cast of Suspect for its second series on Channel 4, scheduled to air this July. 
  • The Disco Show, running in The Ling Hotel, Las Vegas Boulevard from 27 July will be Lighting Designed by Natasha Chivers
  • Alexia Moyano stars in the film My Penguin Friend which will be released in August. 
  • The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power returns for series two this August, starring Ben Daniels and Rory Kinnear. 
  • David Oyelowo, Anton Cross and Stephanie Street will star in Shakespeare’s Coriolanus at the National Theatre London from 11 September - 9 November.  
  • At the National Theatre’s Lyttelton Theatre, Lee Braithwaite will star in The Other Place from 27 September - 9 November. 
  • Natasha Chivers is the Lighting Designer for Oedipus at Wyndham’s Theatre, running from 4 October 2024 - 4 January 2025. 
  • Hugh Skinner stars in the National Theatre’s production of The Importance of Being Ernest from 20 November 2024 - 25 January 2025. 
  • Claire Skinner returns to Outnumbered this Christmas, with a new special announced by the BBC. 
  • Richard Armitage and Rosalind Eleazar are set to star in the series Missing You, which will be released on Netflix in early 2025. 
  • Alexia Moyano stars in the Netflix series Caught which will be released in 2025. 
  • Anna Maxwell Martin is set to star in new ITV true crime drama, Delia Balmer.  
  • Toby Stephens has joined the cast of The Split, a two-part special on the BBC. 
  • Jim Broadbent joins the cast of the film The Choral.  
  • Jim Broadbent has also joined the cast of Noah Baumbach’s new untitled Netflix film.  
  • Sam Claflin is set to star in the upcoming action-thriller film Perdition. 
  • Sam Claflin is also set to star in The Bagman
  • Harry Melling will star in the upcoming movie Pillion. 
  • Harry Hadden-Paton reprises his role and Arty Froushan has joined the cast of Downton Abbey: A New Era. 

Latest News: 

  • Gabby Beans won the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Lead Performer in a Play for JONAH. 
  • Brian Cox and Harriet Walter were nominated for Leading Actor and Supporting Actress for their roles in Succession at the 2024 Bafta Television Awards.  
  • Amit Shah was nominated for Supporting Actor for his role in Happy Valley at the 2024 Bafta Television Awards.
