Alumni News: February edition

Here are just a few highlights of where you can catch our alumni this month.

Latest releases

• MA Directing graduate Madison Gerringer recently took part in Hatch, an evening of new writing, at Golden Goose Theatre on 13 January. Madison wrote Arnie & Silus as part of the scratch night.
• Carolyn Hartvigsen performed My Dead at The Hen and Chickens Theatre from 19 – 21 January. The production began as Carolyn’s thesis project whilst training on the MA Classical Acting course.
• Lucy Jane Atkinson is directing Girls & Boys at Crow’s Theatre in Toronto from 26 January – 12 February. The show stars fellow graduate Fiona Mongillo.
• SCRATCHES, written by and starring Aoife Kennan, is running as part of the Vault Festival between 31 January – 5 February.
• Janine Harouni’s Work In Progress is also showing at the Vault Festival until 7 March. 
• Tingying Dong and Murong Li are working on Walking Cats at the Vault Festival from 31 January – 5 February.
• Luca Panetta is providing Video and Lighting Design and Bella Kear is the Sound Associate on Edith, showing at The Lowry from 1 – 4 February, followed by performances in March at St John's Church, Gosport, and at Theatre Clwyd.
• From 1 – 23 February, Polina Kalinina and Júlia Levai are co-directing Smoke at Southwark Playhouse, which also features Rajiv Pattani as Lighting Designer and stars Meaghan Martin. 
• Psychological horror film Knock At The Cabin, starring Ben Aldridge and Nikki Amuka-Bird, will be released in cinemas from 3 February.
• Jess Millward, Melissa-Kelly Franklin, Sophie McQuillan and Alex Critoph are part of Women’s Writes, showing in the Vault Festival on 27 January and 3 February.
• Sabrina Wu will be performing in Graceland at the Royal Court from 9 February – 11 March.
• Tinuke Craig is directing Trouble in Butetown at Donmar Warehouse from 10 February – 25 March.
• Watch Ben Daniels in @sohoplace’s production of Medea, running from 10 February – 22 April.
• On 12 and 13 February, Julia Messina will be starring in I Still Recall That Quiet Night at the Lion and Unicorn Theatre.
• Elizabeth Benbow is directing How We Begin at the Vault Festival from 14 – 19 February.
• Sam Jenkins-Shaw will be part of the cast for The King and I during its UK tour, beginning on 14 February in Wimbledon.
• Charlie Merriman is writing and starring in Wonder Drug: A Comedy About Cystic Fibrosis at the Vault Festival on 15 and 16 February 2023.
• George Rainsford features in Wish You Were Dead during its UK tour, beginning on 16 February in Bromley.
• From 21 February – 11 March, Sam Crerar will star in Happy Meal at Brixton House Theatre.
• Jo Griffin is performing People Person at Soho Theatre on 22 February.
• From 23 February, Dave Hearn will be touring the UK with a new retelling of The Time Machine.
• Amber Grappy stars in Bush Theatre’s Sleepova from 24 February – 8 April.
• Joshua (and Me), directed by Lucy Jane Atkinson, will be at the Vault Festival on 25 and 26 February.
• From 28 February – 5 March, Amit Shah is starring in Hummingbird at the Vault Festival.
   

Things to look forward to

• Alice Grace recently finished filming for upcoming film The Wasp.
• Daisy Jones & The Six, starring Sam Claflin, is set to premiere on Amazon Prime on 3 March.
• Invisible, produced as a LAMDA short film in 2021, is showing as part of Manchester Film Festival on 11 March. The short film stars Amy Darton and Alistair Nwachukwu and is written and directed by Gilbert Kyem Jnr.
• Maureen Lipman is returning to the West End in May 2023 for Rose, when it transfers to the Ambassadors Theatre.
• Amit Shah is amongst the cast of Pain Hustlers, set to be released on Netflix in October 2023.
• Alumna and Trustee Jemma Redgrave is returning to Doctor Who in the role of Kate Lethbridge-Stewart.
• William Robinson, Mercedes Assad and Matthew Bulgo will star in RSC’s production of Julius Caesar, which runs from 18 March – 8 April, followed by a UK tour from 20 April.
• Nancy Carroll is set to star in the Menier Chocolate Factory’s production of Marjorie Prime, beginning with previews on 3 March.

• Alumnus and former Chairman Sir Luke Rittner has been awarded a knighthood in His Majesty’s 2023 New Year’s Honours list for his services to dance and the arts.
• Tinuke Craig features on the Evening Standard’s list of Rising Stars of Stage and Screen 2023.
• Recent Production & Technical Arts graduate Anna Kraszewska has become Assistant Technical Director of Polish National Opera.
• I Hate It Here – which started out as part of our 2021 MA Directing season – has been granted Arts Council funding for a UK Tour. The production, which is next showing at The Pleasance from 28 February – 11 March, is directed by Jess Haygarth and stars Angela Jones, Conor Dumbrell, Kathrine Payne, Jude Mack and Sarah Farrell.
• Congratulations to Esh Alladi who has been nominated at the Offies for Lead Performance in a Play, after starring in The P Word at Bush Theatre.
