Alumni news: December edition

What’s new this month  

• Ned Bennett directs the National Theatre’s pantomime Dick Whittington, from 11 December to 23 January.  
• Dame Harriet Walter plays the British Prime Minister in the Doctor Who special, broadcasting on Christmas Day. 
• Jeremy Irvine lends his voice to festive charity single “It’s Christmas time (It’s time to lash)”.
• Series two of crime drama Pennyworth with Jason Flemyng as Lord Harwood, airs in the US later this month before streaming in the UK in February 2021.  
• Abubakar Salim stars in Ridley Scott’s second series of Raised by Wolves, hitting Sky Atlantic in December.
• BBC has announced its Christmas line-up including Mischief Theatre’s ‘The Goes Wrong Show’ - The Nativity.
• Airing on BBC 4 on the 30 December at 10pm is Uncle Vanya, filmed in the Howard Pinter Theatre during lockdown, starring Richard Armitage (Astrov), Rosalind Eleazar (Yelena) and Anna Calder-Marshall (Nana). 
• Recent LAMDA graduates Matilda Tucker, Helena Antoniou, Lewis Bruniges, Rosa Hesmondhalgh and Eric Stroud are taking to the stage in The Snow Queen this December. 
• Sound designer, composer and technician Tingying Dong is working on Imaginarium, an audio immersive experience.  
• Released 22 December in cinemas and available for streaming from 23 December, a musical version of the fairytale Rapunzel features lighting designed by Lizzie Powell.
• Rodrigo Beilfuss stars in Hallmark festive film Christmas by Starlight, available now. 
• Alexandra Faye Braithwaite is part of the design team working on three immersive Christmas productions at Theatr Clwyd.  
• Katherine Parkinson joins the cast of comedy show Taskmaster for their New Year special.  
• Iwan Rheon stars in series three of American Gods, hitting the small screen in January.
• Director Tinuke Craig is due to join forces with RSC's acting company in January to read extracts from Shakespeare selected by young people.

• Donald Sutherland stars in Netflix thriller The Undoing, available now.
• Ell Potter created audio comedy Lem N Ginge.
• Original Audible drama The Jane Austen Collection includes performances from Anna Chancellor, James Corrigan, Rosalind Eleazar, Emma Gregory, Paterson Joseph, Esme Scarborough, Natalie Simpson and Sam Stafford. 
• Series two of His Dark Materials, now available on BBC iPlayer, stars Ruth Wilson and David Suchet. 
• You can watch The Factory’s live performance (filmed during Lockdown) of Love's Labour's Lost via YouTube featuring Simon Muller. Watch it here. 
• The Witches starring Simon Manyonda is available to rent from Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, Microsoft Store, and the Google Play store. 
• Aaron Vodovoz stars in Messiah which can be streamed on Netflix now. Aaron is also the voice of Sova in Play Valorant Video game. Read about his experience here.
• Watch Little Birds (TV series) on Sky Atlantic and stream on NOW TV starring Aaron Vodovoz and Hugh Skinner.
• Catch Kemi-Bo Jacobs in The Letter for the King now streaming on Netflix. 
• Eleanor Fanyinka guest stars in season 3 of Shakespeare And Hathaway now streaming on BBC iPlayer. 
• Trieve Blackwood-Cambridge has joined the cast of BBC’s Holby City, becoming a series regular.  
• Sound designer Annie Fletcher collaborated on audio project Written On The Waves released this year.  
• Actor Amir El-Masry starred in Limbo, the story of Middle Eastern and African refugees awaiting official asylum status on a Scottish island. 
• Available on BBC iPlayer, Elliot Edusah stars in the fourth Small Axe film, Alex Wheatle.

• All Creatures Great and Small has been renewed for a second series, with Callum Woodhouse resuming his role as Siegfried’s brother Tristan.
• Gary Carr has been cast in the Amazon adaptation of Sci-Fri novel The Peripheral. 
• Richard Armitage will narrate David Hewson’s new novel The Garden of Angels in January.
• Benedict Cumberbatch is set to star in Guantánamo conspiracy film The Mauritanian. 
• Paterson Joseph is writing, directing and performing the play Sancho: An Act of Remembrance at Lyric Hammersmith in February.
• Opening in March, Tinuke Craig is directing The Color Purple in Concert.
• Netflix hit Stranger Things has announced Joseph Quinn as a series regular.
• Production and Technical Arts graduates James Smith and Jaspal Jabbal have set up their own company, J&J Event Solutions.  
• You can sign up for The NT At Home Streaming Service which includes Three Sisters starring Natalie Simpson, Jonathan Ajayi and Offue Okegbe and Othello, featuring Rory Kinnear.
• Daniel Ward has won the George Devine award for his play The Canary and the Crow, about a working-class black school child accepted to a prestigious grammar school. 
• Holly Reddaway has joined BFI network as BAFTA Crew Games director.
