Alumni News: April Edition

Latest releases

  • Living Room Productions in New York City was founded by Ellyn Heald, Laura Carswell and Su Hendrickson. The company recently presented their first official season of shows including Georgia Mertching is Dead (directed by Laura Carswell), Peep (directed by Su Hendrickson) and Twelfth Night (directed by Ellyn Heald). 
  • Amerikin, starring Daniel Abeles, began previews at 59E59’s Theater A in New York on March 1 and is set for a limited run through until April 13. 
  • Arty Froushan stars in the first season of Daredevil: Born Again which was released on Disney+ on 4 March. 
  • Laurie Davidson stars in A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis Story which began airing weekly on ITV1 from 5 March. 
  • Brian Cox provides voices for The Electric State on Netflix (released on 14 March) and The Parenting on Max (released on 13 March). 
  • Jessica Dickey’s play Searching for Galileo's Daughter played from 14 - 23 March at the Museum of Worcester, Massachusetts. 
  • The Rule of Jenny Pen, starring Brian Cox, was released in UK and Irish cinemas on 14 March, and was available on Shudder and AMC+ from 28 March. 
  • Eric Wiegand stars in Stranger Things: The First Shadow at the Marquis Theatre on Broadway. Previews began on 28 March, with the official opening on 22 April.   
  • The LeftBehinds, part of the National Theatre school tours, played until 28 March and starred Tanaka Mpofu, Francis Nunnery, Ryn Alleyne and Ethan Hughes. Rrita Pula was the Trainee Resident Director for this project. 
  • The UK premiere reading of The Moss Maidens, which took place at the Drayton Arms Theatre on 30 and 31 March, starred Claire Adams, Josselyn Ryder, Caitlyn Calfas, Capucine Earle, Nathan Ricard, and Katherine Lyle, with direction and production support by Aishwarya Gaikwad and Bonnie Langthorn
  • Jon Trenchard stars in Piaf at the Watermill Theatre from 4 April - 17 May. 
  • Laura Howard is the Lighting Designer for The Habits at Hampsted Theatre, which plays until 5 April. 
  • Gerald Kyd stars in Much Ado About Nothing until 5 April at Theatre Royal Drury Lane. 
  • A new adaptation of Romeo and Juliet starring Kyle Ndukuba will transfer to the Bristol Old Vic until 5 April and will then play at Hackney Empire from 23 - 26 April. 
  • Rebecca Frecknall’s 2022 revival of A Streetcar Named Desire plays at the BAM Harvey Theater, New York until 6 April. 
  • Lucy Jane Atkinson directs All The Happy Things which will premiere in London from 8 April, before transferring to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe later this summer. 
  • The Da Vinci Code at Salisbury Playhouse features Composer and Sound Designer Alexandra Faye Braithwaite. The show plays from 10 April - 3 May.  
  • Eva Scott stars in A Knight’s Tale, a new musical which will have its world premiere at Manchester Opera House on 11 April.   
  • Alex Waldmann stars in Farewell Mister Haffmann at Park Theatre until 12 April. 
  • Too Small To Tell, playing at Upstairs at the Gatehouse from 15 - 20 April, is written and performed by Lisa Rose.   
  • Government Cheese starring David Oyelowo premiers on Apple TV+ on 16 April. 
  • Ned Costello stars in Titus Andronicus at The Swan Theatre, Stratford-Upon-Avon from 17 April - 7 June. 
  • Three Sisters, which plays at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse until 19 April, stars Stuart Thompson. 
  • Saroja-Lily Ratnavel stars in Cymbeline until 20 April at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse. 
  • Rory Kinnear, Harry Hadden-Patton and Cameron Johnson will star in Here We Are at Lyttelton Theatre, National Theatre from 23 April - 28 June. 
  • Punch at The Young Vic features Sound Design and Composition by Alexandra Faye Braithwaite, and Annie May Fletcher as Associate Sound Designer. The show plays until 26 April.  
  • The Score, starring Brian Cox and Stephen Hagan, plays at the Theatre Royal Haymarket until 26 April. 
  • Kieran Knowles and Ami Tredrea star in Hamlet Hail to the Thief from 27 April - 18 May at South Warehouse. 
  • Matt Doyle stars in the off-Broadway production of Conversations with Mother, which plays at Theater555 until 7 May. 
  • Radiant Boy, which plays at Southwark Playhouse from 21 May - 14 June stars Stuart Thompson and is directed by Júlia Levai. 
  • Lizzie Powell is the Lighting Designer for The Queen of Spades at Garsington Opera. The show runs from 29 May - 4 July.  
  • Sarah Thorn stars in Othello until 8 June at Barrymore Theatre, on Broadway. 

Things to look forward to    

  • 1536 at the Almeida Theatre, which runs from 6 May - 7 June, features Sound Designer Tingying Dong
  • Julie Hesmondhalgh will be performing in An Oak Tree at The Young Vice. The show runs from 6 May - 24 May. 
  • Following a run at the King’s Head Theatre in March, Jazz Jenkins will star in (THIS IS NOT A) HAPPY ROOM at the Theatre Royal Windsor from 13 - 17 May. 
  • Stereophonic at the Duke of York’s Theatre stars Lucy Karcezewski and will play from 24 May - 20 September. 
  • The Life of Chuck starring Chiwetel Ejiofor will premiere on in the US on 30 May. 
  • The Phoenician Scheme, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, will be released in cinemas on 30 May.  
  • David Moorst stars in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Bridge Theatre from 31 May - 23 August. 
  • Naomi Sheldon stars in Anna Karenina at Chichester Festival Theatre from 7 - 28 June. 
  • Victor Lirio directs REP’s production of ART which plays from 13 - 21 June at REP Eastwood Theater in Quezon City. 
  • The Roses starring Benedict Cumberbatch will be released in cinemas on August 29. 
  • Mischief Comedy has announced a new production of Christmas Carol Goes Wrong which will play from December 2025 to January 2026. The show is written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields.

Latest news 

  • Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light has been nominated at the 2025 Bafta TV Awards for Drama Series. The show stars Harriet Walter, Amir El-Masry and Harry Melling. 
  • Mr Bates vs the Post Office, which stars Julie Hesmondhalgh, has also been nominated in the Limited Drama category.  
  • Anna Maxwell Martin has been nominated for Leading Actress for her role in Until I Kill You. 
  • Katherine Parkinson also received a nomination for Supporting Actress for Rivals.
