About the pieces
4x4 Two is the second collection of 10 minute pieces in the festival programme.
MIA
Created by Emily Steck
Mia hasn’t left home in a year. Unintentionally, but somewhere between falling out with her best friend and her sister’s deteriorating mental health, Mia decided she preferred TV to people. Literally. Mia has made friends with her favourite TV characters and they are wayyyy better than her real friends. However, despite her best efforts, Mia is plagued by the world she observes through social media and the seeming indifference to her absence.
Talk to Me
Created by Chloe English
Emma is just an ordinary scouse girl who has an extraordinary job. Taking the worst calls of everyone lives armed only with a cuppa and a sense of humour is not for the faint hearted. It’s isolating being on the front line but someone has got to do it.
In The Name Of
Created by Alice Hemmings & Misha Domadia
‘Sometimes growing up means growing apart’ - Rachel and Monica, two girls on the brink of their teenage years find each other through their adoration of Leonardo DiCaprio. But what happens when you realise that your chance to be unique is stifled by the one person you connect with? This piece is a heightened, often melodramatic, comical portrayal of the friendships we develop and the young identities we cling on to.
That’s How the Light Gets in
Created by Lucy Girling
“I just can’t shake this feeling that I’m mourning the loss of something that never happened, like a life I’ve never lived.”
Maia is trying desperately to swim up from rock bottom.
Olivia is doing her best to support her best friend but not lose herself in the swell.
Both girls are just trying to make it out the door.
