Professor April McMahon

April McMahon joined the University of Manchester in October 2019 as Vice-President for Teaching, Learning and Students. She was first in her family to go to university, at Edinburgh, and has subsequently held academic and leadership roles at the Universities of Cambridge, Sheffield, Edinburgh, Aberystwyth and Kent. April is also Professor of English Language and Linguistics at Manchester, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, the British Academy, and the Learned Society of Wales. She has a lively interest in career development and leadership, and a strong commitment to enhancement of education and the student experience; and has recently been Chair of the TEF Subject Pilot Humanities Panel and a member of the Subject Pilot Main Panel.
