Led by an ensemble of over 45 enthusiastic staff and students, LAMDA joined the celebrations amidst a staggering turnout of approximately 32,000 participants. The parade, which commenced at Hyde Park Corner and traversed through iconic London landmarks such as Piccadilly Circus, Haymarket, and Trafalgar Square, culminated at Whitehall Place.
The day was a vibrant display of unity and pride, with diverse groups including LGBT+ Community Groups, businesses, and partners coming together to support and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. Led by the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, the parade exemplified London's inclusive spirit and vibrant cultural tapestry.
The Pride Festival, organised by Pride in London, spanned throughout June, featuring an array of events ranging from theatre and cabaret shows to exhibitions and conferences. This year marked an expansion of the festival, evolving from a week-long to a month-long celebration of LGBTQ+ culture and achievements.
The weather favoured the festivities, blessing the capital with sunny skies that added to the jubilant atmosphere. LAMDA's contingent soaked in the joyful energy and camaraderie of the event, revelling in the opportunity to represent diversity within the arts community.
When asked about the day, one of our LAMDA March crew replied “We had a blast soaking in the March festivities and the joyful energy of the vibrant and colourful event— what an amazing feeling to be part of a diverse group!
As LAMDA continues to champion diversity both on and off the stage, its participation in events like the London Pride Parade show its dedication to fostering an inclusive environment within the arts and beyond.
