LAMDA graduate nominated for Ian Charleson Award

22 April 2025

LAMDA is thrilled to share the news that recent graduate Daniel Quinn-Toye has been nominated for the 2025 Ian Charleson Award.

Quinn-Toye graduated from LAMDA's internationally renowned BA Professional Acting programme in 2024, on completion of his three-year training.

The young actor has now been recognised for his impressive stage debut in Romeo and Juliet, where he performed alongside Tom Holland at Duke of York’s Theatre from May to August 2024. Quinn-Toye played the role of Paris and achieved particular praise in The Guardian's review for bringing "a wide-eyed pathos" to the role.

The annual Ian Charleson prize is named in memory of the acclaimed British actor, in particular recognition of his celebrated performance as Hamlet at the National Theatre shortly before his death in 1990. The award recognises outstanding performances by actors under the age of 30 in classical stage roles.

The full short list for this year's prize can be found here.

This year’s judges are stage and screen actor Fisayo Akinade, Alastair Coomer (Head of Casting at the National Theatre), Robert Hastie (Deputy Artistic Director at the National Theatre) and casting director Hannah Miller.

Since his West End run in Romeo and Juliet, Quinn-Toye has also been cast in Amazon MGM's highly anticipated Voltron film alongside Henry Cavill.

LAMDA extends a heartfelt congratulations to Daniel for his nomination.

Applications for LAMDA's BA (Hons) Professional Acting course open in July 2025.
