Audible establishes grant to support audio training
LAMDA is thrilled to announce the establishment of a new annual grant from audiobook and podcast service Audible. This generous initiative aims to enhance LAMDA’s training programmes and help students from all backgrounds break into the audio industry.
The grant, valued at £45,000, will be awarded annually to LAMDA and used to fund new audio development workshops, opportunities to learn from key industry figures and celebrated LAMDA alumni, and a new competition hosted by Audible.
It will also have a special focus on supporting artists from underrepresented backgrounds, reinforcing LAMDA’s commitment to breaking down barriers and providing essential platforms for marginalised voices.
"We are incredibly grateful to Audible for this generous new grant," said Amy Cudden, Joint Head of Screen, Audio & Digital Innovation at LAMDA. "The funding will greatly enhance the audio training we provide and aligns perfectly with our mission to provide exceptional training for our students.”
2024 also marks the sixth anniversary of LAMDA and Audible’s trailblazing creative partnership. In 2018, the two organisations launched GNR8, a series of exciting new audio dramas commissioned from writers across the UK and starring the voices of talented LAMDA acting students.
Audible’s grant will take this partnership to new heights, with opportunities for students to gain practical training in audio production, direction, writing and engineering.
The new grant will be first awarded to LAMDA in 2024.
