The Hollywood Reporter names LAMDA in Top 10 Drama Schools
On 19 June, The Hollywood Reporter published its annual ranking of the top 25 drama schools in the world, and we are pleased to announce that LAMDA has been awarded sixth place! This distinguished ranking highlights our commitment to and the ongoing impact on the performing arts industry.
Every year, The Hollywood Reporter consults with educators and industry executives to assess Drama Schools worldwide. Their criteria include the courses offered, faculty expertise, alumni success, tuition fees, and overall impact on the industry.
In this year’s rankings, LAMDA has been awarded sixth place, ahead of other esteemed drama schools. LAMDA has advanced two positions since last year, when we placed eighth in 2023's annual rankings, with our attention on the student experience as a whole, our award-winning training facilities and campus, and strengthening relationships with the performing arts industry.
The Hollywood Reporter gave a special mention to several notable developments at LAMDA, including Dr. Philippa Strandberg-Long's role as the Head of Drama School, along with new faculty members, and a significant investment in cutting-edge virtual production facilities for screen, amongst others.
These advancements reflect our dedication to providing innovative and comprehensive training for our students, ensuring they enter the work arena with the right skills, knowledge, and experience to meet future demand for changing industry needs.
The report also acknowledged some of LAMDA’s distinguished alumni, mentioning Brian Cox, David Oyelowo, and Benedict Cumberbatch, who along with many more have made significant contributions to the performing arts.
As the oldest drama school in the UK, LAMDA has been training and inspiring exceptional artists for over 160 years through undergraduate, postgraduate, and short courses, and through LAMDA Exams, which is present in 44 markets around the world via schools and independent teachers.
Being recognised as one of the top Drama Schools in the world is a remarkable achievement and a testament to the dedication of LAMDA’s students, faculty, and staff.
LAMDA is incredibly proud to share this stage with such highly respected institutions and will continue to strive for excellence in all that we do.
