Jake Mawhinney

Coming from the North East of England, Jake originally trained at LAMDA, before working extensively across the UK. Jake is an experienced theatre lighting designer, having designed the lighting for theatre shows and tours across the country, he also has experience as a lighting programmer and production electrician. Jake also spent several years as technical manager for one of the largest classical music festivals in the country, a role which also included significant lighting design for music and architectural lighting.

Jake returned to LAMDA to teach, but also continues to do occasional freelance work across the industry, ensuring the lighting practice taught at LAMDA is relevant and forward thinking.
