We are delighted that 19 recent LAMDA graduates feature in four new audio dramas for children; Where is Tasman? and Duel by Flood Light from series The Ballalloes and We are The Gnats! and Who is the Guitar Thief? from series The Gnats.
LAMDA 2017 FdA graduate Emily Carewe was commissioned by Europa (Sony Germany) to assemble a British cast to record the English language version of the German audio plays. Drawing on her former classmates, Emily found the group of 19 actors along with the director Tamsin Collison, an audio tutor at LAMDA. In June this year the plays were recorded over the course of four days at The SoundHouse Studios, with the final result now available for download.
LAMDA graduates involved in the production were Joseph Aldous, Lewis Bruniges, Gabriel Cagan, Emily Carewe, Jonathan Case, Hugh Coles, Philippe Edwards, Arty Froushan, Misha Graham, Jensen Gray, Louise Hoare, David Leopold, Maisie Preston, Emma Rendell, Eva Scott, Bert Seymour, Rebecca Tebbett, Tomos Williams and Angus Yellowlees.
Speaking about the collaboration, Europa’s Corinna Wodrich said: ‘I was impressed not just with their acting skills, but also with their discipline; keeping all the timings, being extremely well prepared and their enthusiasm for what they were asked to do.’
With the growing demand for audio entertainment, we consider audio to be an integral part of our training. We have recently partnered with Audible UK which will provide £150,000 of funding over the next three years. Students have recently visited Audible’s studios for recording sessions as well as working with Audible’s writers to develop new audio dramas.
