Behind the scenes at our community day
We were delighted to welcome the local Hammersmith and Fulham community, LAMDA friends and neighbours to our new home on Sunday 17 September, as part of Open House 2017. With guests ranging in age from 2 to 92, there was something for everyone on offer throughout the day.
Visitors enjoyed stage combat and screen acting demonstrations and guided tours around the building, while LAMDA students were busy making masks, building model sets and reading poetry with our younger visitors. Guests also had a chance to stand on the stage of The Sainsbury Theatre and learn more from our technical theatre students about all the facilities on offer to them in our new centre for world-leading drama training.
Níall McLaughlin Architects were on hand throughout the day to chat to people about the challenges of designing and building our new home on a long, thin site and working between Talgarth Road and the Tube line, while our examinations team chatted to visitors about our qualifications in communication and performance.
We were also delighted to welcome Councillor Michael Cartwright, Mayor of the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, for a tour of our new facilities led by our students and LAMDA Principal Joanna Read.
It was a pleasure to see so many people exploring our building – thank you to everyone who helped make the day so enjoyable and we look forward to seeing many of you again soon.
