Kalungi Ssebandeke

Kalungi Ssebandeke is an actor/writer/director who in 2023 won the JMK Directing Award for his proposed production of Meetings by Mustapha Matura, which was staged at The Orange Tree Theatre starring Martina Laird to critical acclaim with the Arts Desk’s 4 star review calling him a “talent to watch”. Since then he has taken on the role of Carne Associate Director at Theatre503 where he will be directing his sophomore production, The Great Privation by Nia Akilah Robinson, a US based playwright. Kalungi is also the founder of directyourfirstplay.com an online directing course for aspiring and emerging directors.
