About the Comparative Drama Conference
In 2025, the Comparative Drama Conference will be hosted by LAMDA, marking the first time it will be held in Europe in its near 50-year history.
The Comparative Drama Conference (CDC) is an international, interdisciplinary conference founded by Dr Karelisa Hartigan at the University of Florida in 1977. Every year, scholars/artists are invited to present and discuss their work in the field of drama, and new plays receive a staged reading. Each year a distinguished theatre scholar or artist is invited to address the participants in the Keynote Event. This year, we are delighted to announce that playwright and writer of Giant Mark Rosenblatt will be in conversation as part of this event.
The conference draws participants from both the Humanities and the Arts. The papers delivered range over the entire field of theatre research and production. From July 2025 to 2030, the conference will be convened in alternate years at LAMDA, London, UK and the University of Wisconsin at Madison, USA.
