Classical Acting & Musical Theatre UK Showcase
Performed at Underbelly Boulevard in Soho
On Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31 October, LAMDA's 2024 MA/MFA Classical Acting and Musical Theatre students took to the stage at Underbelly Boulevard in Soho for their fantastic UK Showcase!
This vibrant event highlighted the remarkable talent, dedication, and hard work of our newest graduates, who performed for an enthusiastic audience of friends, family, alumni, LAMDA staff, and industry guests.
The showcase opened with our MA/MFA Classical Acting students, who presented a series of carefully selected short scenes and songs. They performed from a range of contemporary plays, including The Pain and the Itch by Bruce Norris, Art by Yasmina Reza, Love/Sick by John Cariani, Plaques and Tangles by Nicola Wilson, and The Girl’s Guide to Saving The World by Elinor Cook. Their performances showcased their versatility and skill in storytelling through powerful scene work and engaging musical interludes.
The second half of the showcase featured our Musical Theatre graduates, who, as our first cohort from the new MA/MFA Musical Theatre course, marked an exciting milestone for LAMDA. Their musical performances spanned a diverse repertoire, including songs from Kathy And Stella Solve a Murder, Funny Girl, In the Heights, The Notebook, and The Colour Purple. Each number was a display of skill, emotion, and vocal technique, reflecting the comprehensive training they received and their readiness for the professional world.
We’re so proud of all involved and look forward to seeing where their journeys will lead them next.
