Alumni News: August Edition

Latest releases  

  • Jim Broadbent narrates the latest Aldi TV advert, celebrating the supermarket's new role as the official sponsor for Team GB and ParalympicsGB. 
  • Anna Maxwell Martin stars in the BBC Three series A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder, now streaming on BBC iPlayer. 
  • Angelica Williams starred in The Classical Theatre of Harlem’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream in Marcus Garvey Park from 6 - 28 July. 
  • Callum Watson was Assistant Lighting, Sound and Programming for Blessings, which played at Riverside Studios as part of their BITESIZE Festival from 10 – 14 July. 
  • Maya De La Torre stars in The Tempest from 11 July – 2 August with Full Circle Players Shakespeare in the Park series in California. 
  • Peace Oseyenum stars in Prime Video film A Song From The Dark, released 12 July. 
  • Haliya Roberts recently starred in Boomerang Theatre Company’s production of Romeo and Juliet in Central Park at 69th Street and Central Park West until 14 July. 
  • Clear Cut starring Clive Standen was released in cinemas and on demand on 19 July. 
  • Harry Hadden-Paton stars in the film Twisters, released in cinemas on 19 July. 
  • Toby Stephens starred in season four, episode one of the series McDonald & Dodds on 21 July. Claire Skinner is also amongst the cast of the ITV series. 
  • Bianca LaVerne is directing two plays as part of The International Black Theatre Festival (IBTF). I AM…A SHEPHERDESS will be performed at Wake Forest University from 30 July – 3 August, and CLAUDETTE COLVIN STORY will be staged at the Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts from 30 July – 1 August. 
  • Mischief Movie Night starring Jonathan Sayer, Henry Shields, Matthew Cavendish, Bryony Corrigan, Ellie Morris, Nancy Zamit, Niall Ransome and Henry Lewis runs at The Other Palace from 30 July – 1 September. 
  • Grace Wallis stars in OVO Outdoor Roman Theatre’s production of The Merchant of Venice, running from 31 July - 11 August. 
  • Richard III at Shakespeare’s Globe stars Sam Crerar, playing until 3 August.  
  • Bert Seymour stars in Antony & Cleopatra at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre from 4 August – 15 September. 
  • Alan Cox stars in Farm Hall at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from 7 – 31 August. 
  • The Pudding Club, which plays at Hen & Chickens Theatre as part of the Camden Fringe from 7 – 11 August, was written and directed by Belle Bao
  • Charles Babalola stars in the upcoming movie Borderlands, which will be released on 9 August. 
  • The Constituent plays at The Old Vic until 10 August, starring Anna Maxwell Martin.   
  • I’m Gonna Marry You Tobey Maguire, playing at Southwark Playhouse until 10 August, features Holly Ellis as Lighting Designer.    
  • Nadia Parkes stars in the BBC Three series Kidnapped: The Chloe Ayling Story, beginning on 14 August. 
  • Alexia Moyano stars in the film My Penguin Friend which will be released on 16 August.   
  • Giles Malcolm stars in Changeling Theatre Company’s touring production of Henry V this summer, running until 18 August. 
  • Lizzie Schenk and Sam Swann star in the Comedy of Errors at Shakespeare's Globe from 21 August – 27 October. 
  • The Real Thing at The Old Vic runs from 22 August –26 October and features Sound Design by Alexandra Faye Braithwaite. 
  • Lost and Found, showing at Etcetera Theatre as part of the Camden Fringe from August 23 – 25, features two 30-minute plays, Solitude and VOICE, created by a company of recent LAMDA graduates. The shows feature Anna Hampton (director), Elijah Lifton (writer, producer, and performer), Lisa Gillham (writer), Evie Day (performer), Lucy Gant (performer), Alex Makar (performer), Ethan Simm (writer and director), Stella Robinson (writer), Lauren Maguire (performer), Niamh Spillane (performer), Nina Amos (performer), and Ro Florence (performer). 
  • Much Ado About Nothing, starring Ryan Donaldson, Colm Gormley, Ekow Quartey and Adam Wadsworth, is showing at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre until 24 August.   
  • Mewling and Puking, which plays from 26 – 28 August at the Hen and Chickens Theatre, stars Rachel Kitts, Sarah McCurrach and Jonathan Aarons.   
  • The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power returns for series two from 29 August, starring Ben Daniels and Rory Kinnear.   
  • Tim Treloar stars in the London and UK Tour of An Inspector Calls from 30 August 2024 – 31 May 2025. 
  • Matt Doyle is among the lineup of performers set for this year's Barrington Stage Summer Cabaret Series, running until 31 August at the Sydelle and Lee Blatt Performing Arts Center.    
  • Ellyn Heald stars in The Hills of California at the Broadhurst Theatre, New York from 11 September.  
  • Emmanuel Olusanya stars in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of Pericles until 21 September. 
  • Kit Fowler is the Deputy Stage Manager for The Taming of the Shrew which runs at Shakespeare’s Globe from until 26 October.   

Things to look forward to  

  • Ruth Wilson is narrating new audiobooks of Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials, due for publication on 5 September. 
  • Turtle, written and performed by Blake Stratso and directed by Alex Osborne, will be performed on September 5 at The Distillers Pub.
  • Daniel Rock stars in the UK and Ireland tour of War Horse from 5 September 2024 - 8 November 2025. 
  • Alexandra Faye Braithwaite is Sound Designer for Abigail’s Party, which plays at Stratford East from 6 September – 5 October.   
  • Ken Bolden stars in the Pittsburgh Public's production of Dial M For Murder from 11 – 29 September.  
  • Kim Cattrall stars in BBC Radio 4 audio drama series Central Intelligence which begins on 13 September. 
  • Dame Harriet Walter will narrate as part of a performance of I, Clara: Clara Schumann – A Life in Music on 14 September. 
  • Claire Skinner stars in the film The Critic, which will be released on 14 September. 
  • John Lithgow stars in Giant at The Royal Court Theatre from 20 September - 16 November, with Sound Designer Alexandra Faye Braithwaite.  
  • The Bagman starring Sam Claflin will be released in cinemas on 20 September. 
  • Patricia Hodge features as part of Barnes Bookfest on 21 September at the Barnes Methodist Chruch for Miriam Margoyles - ‘Oh Miriam!’   
  • Nancy Carroll will adapt and star in the Menier Chocolate Factory’s production of The Cabinet Minister, running from 21 September – 16 November. 
  • Lee Braithwaite stars in The Other Place at the National’s Lyttelton theatre from 27 September - 9 November. 
  • Leah Harvey stars in Girl in the Machine at the Young Vic from 16 – 26 October. 
  • Justin Mayer’s clown show, Laugh Lab, has been accepted into the Theatre Crude Fringe Festival in Oklahoma City, to be performed 10 –19 October.  
  • On 27 October, Dame Harriet Walter will perform excerpts from her new book, 'She Speaks!' at the event Harriet Walter & Friends: Shakespeare Women Speak! at Richmond Theatre. 
  • Gladiator II starring Joseph Quinn will be released on 15 November. 
  • John Lithgow stars in Conclave, due for release in cinemas on 15 November.  
  • Season two of Silo returns to Apple TV+ on 15 November, starring Harriet Walter. 
  • John Lithgow stars in the animated Netflix film Spellbound, which will be released on 22 November. 
  • Anna Maxwell Martin stars in Until I Kill You on ITV this autumn. 
  • Maureen Lipman stars in Richmond Theatre’s Pantomime, Beauty and The Beast, from 7 December 2024 – 5 January 2025. 
  • Anna Maxwell Martin stars in the upcoming BBC series Ludwig.   
  • Natasha McElhone stars in the upcoming TV series Young Sherlock. 
  • Jemma Redgrave reprises her role in Doctor Who for the spin-off series, The War Between The Land And The Sea, which will air on BBC and Disney+. 

LAMDA at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe  

  • Edge of Time, produced by Michelle Schechter and starring Daisy Boulton runs from 1 - 25 August at Underbelly Cowgate.
  • House of Oz, produced by Michael Fraser, is a venue at the Edinburgh Fringe that showcases the depth and breadth of Australian talent, featuring a diverse array of performers ranging from emerging artists to seasoned veterans, with performances from 1 – 25 August.
  • Things Between Heaven and Earth, written and performed by Jun Noh runs at the Camden Fringe from 3 – 6 August and, at the Underbelly, Bristo Square in Edinburgh from 8 – 26 August. 
  • Chloe 'Alex' Alexander is the Stage Manager for The Sound Inside, playing at the Traverse Theatre from 3 – 26 August. 
  • Sleepover, co-produced by Caitlyn Calfas, plays at Greenside @ George Street from 5 - 24 August. 
  • Oh Calm Down written and performed by Charlotte Anne-Tilley, plays at Summerhall, Cairns Lecture Theatre from 5 - 26 August.
  • plewds starring Kathrine Payne plays at Summerhall, Old Lab from August 5 - 26.
  • Serious Theatre from Serious People written and performed by Charlotte Anne-Tilley, plays at the Gilded Balloon Patter House from 6 - 26 August.
  • Crying Shame featuring work by Jordan Barton, Conor Dumbrell, Jess Haygarth and Kathrine Payne plays at Pleasance Dome from 6 - 25 August.
  • Bark Bark, playing at Summerhall from 9 –  26 August stars Camilla Anvar.
  • The Blood, directed by Sam Gibbs plays as the Paradise in The Vault on the 9 and 10 August. 
  • Offue Okegbe stars in Rosie and Hugh’s Great Big Adventure at the Pleasance Courtyard, Edinburgh from 10 – 18 August and, at Soho Theatre in London from 22 – 25 August.  
  • Vivian Allvin stars in Ulysses in Babel, her own thesis turned stage production, at C Alto Studio during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe from 12 – 18 August. It will also play in London Union Theatre on 24 August and Barons Court Theatre from 27 - 31 August. The show is directed by Nick Bagnall who is a guest director at LAMDA. 
  • Elaine Redshaw is Stage Managing Show How It's Thespian at the Haldane Theatre (Surgeons Hall) from 20 – 24 August.
