The Guardian ranks LAMDA number one school for Drama

11 September 2024

LAMDA is proud to announce that it has ranked number one in The Guardian's 2025 UK Universities league table for Drama and Dance. This remarkable achievement highlights the school's commitment to providing exceptional training for its students.

The Guardian's annual University Guide and league tables are highly respected. To help young people choose a university, it assesses higher education providers across the UK through eight different scores.

These scores include what students have said in the annual National Student Survey about the quality of teaching, assessment and feedback at their university of choice, as well as the student-to-staff ratio and how many students are in graduate-level jobs 15 months after graduating.

LAMDA's stellar performance across these categories ensured its top position, solidifying its reputation as a leading institution for the performing arts.

“We are thrilled at our number one ranking," said Professor Mark O'Thomas, Principal and CEO of LAMDA. “Our mission is to continue paving the way in performing arts training, and this recognition is a testament to how much LAMDA has transformed and elevated over the past year. We are very proud of what we have accomplished and excited for the new academic year ahead.”

This year's top ranking marks a steady rise for LAMDA, which has consistently climbed The Guardian's league tables over the last three years. In two years, LAMDA has gone up by 70 places in the table, making this year’s number one spot an exciting milestone.

Looking ahead, LAMDA has ambitious plans to build on this success through new initiatives, collaborations and performance opportunities. As the school celebrates this incredible accomplishment, it remains focused on what is most important: nurturing the next generation of talented actors, directors and theatre practitioners.
