LAMDA x Lyric Future Technicians
Applications are open for our Spring Course, beginning February 2025. Apply below.
The LAMDA x Lyric Future Technicians Programme is an exciting opportunity for young people in West London to explore careers in the technical and production side of the creative industries. This free programme is designed to introduce participants to the skills and technology behind Film, TV, and Theatre. It is delivered in partnership between The Lyric Hammersmith Theatre and LAMDA.
Future Technicians is split into two key components:
Spring Course
This eight-week course for 14–19-year-olds, running on Monday evenings in the Spring term, offers participants the chance to try out a variety of production and technical roles. Through hands-on taster workshops, participants will explore areas such as lighting, sound, stage management, and staging / scenic construction.
These sessions provide an accessible and engaging way to learn about the many behind-the-scenes roles that make creative projects possible.
Summer School Project
The programme also offers an in-depth Summer School for 16–21-year-olds, where participants will work together on a practical project. This hands-on experience will focus on using production technology in Film, TV, and Theatre, allowing young people to:
1. Experiment with industry-standard tools and techniques
2. Develop their creativity and technical skills
3. Work collaboratively to bring a project to life
Who is it for?
The Future Technicians Programme is ideal for young people interested in learning more about technical and production careers in The Arts. No previous experience is required; it's an opportunity to come and learn something new. It’s also a fantastic resource for parents, carers, and teachers supporting young people in exploring creative career pathways.
