LAMDA announces withdrawal from Twitter/X platform
The London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA) has made the considered decision to withdraw its presence from the social media platform Twitter/X with immediate effect. This action is taken in response to the platform's ongoing promotion and spread of misinformation, which has led to a concerning increase in right-wing riots and demonstrations across the country.
LAMDA is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and truthful environment both online and offline. As an institution that values integrity, diversity, and the wellbeing of our students, staff, and the wider community, we cannot in good conscience continue to support a platform that contributes to societal discord and the dissemination of false information.
The decision to disengage from Twitter/X aligns with our core principles and our dedication to upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct. We recognise the impact that misinformation can have on public opinion and societal harmony, and we stand firmly against any actions that incite violence or propagate divisive ideologies.
We encourage our community and supporters to connect with us through our other communication channels, including our official website, Instagram, email newsletters, and other social media platforms where we can ensure the accuracy and integrity of our communications.
We thank you for your understanding and continued support as we take this important step in safeguarding our values and the safety of our community.
